What is new in ArkivDigital?
Speaker: Kathy Meade
Free for Swedish American Genealogical Society members.
ArkivDigital is an online service that provides access to Swedish historical church records and other historical documents. Since the beginning, the company’s goal has been to make Swedish cultural heritage more accessible and user-friendly for genealogists and historians. Ten years ago, the company launched its first name-searchable index, and now it is taking the next big step toward making historical sources even more accessible to the public through machine-transcribed text.
This presentation will focus primarily on the new service, machine-transcribed text, and provide an update on new records and indexes.
Kathy Meade is the North American representative for ArkivDigital. This company offers online access to newly photographed color images of the Swedish church books and other historical records. She has been working with Swedish genealogy for over twenty years. Ms. Meade serves on the advisory board for the Swedish American Genealogy Research Center at the Swedish American Museum in Chicago. She volunteers at the museum and the Arlington Heights Memorial Library in Arlington Heights, IL, helping patrons with their Swedish genealogical research.
